Vacation Worries

My vacation is seven days away. I am scared to death now that I will gain weight on my vacation. It won't bother me if I don't lose an ounce, but I certainly don't wait to GAIN. Although I occasionally stray, I generally do like my food and shake routines that I have developed on a daily basis.

Next Thursday night, my two best friends that are going on vacation with me will be staying the night at my house. We are going to the airport early in the AM. They are both bringing down some clothes that they think might fit me. It will be interesting to see what fits, especially since clothing seems to vary so much based on whoever has designed it. I sometimes wish that women's clothing sizes were more streamlined like mens.

Although this WLS process is going so fast, sometimes I wish I could just hurry up and get to the part of maintaining my weight loss. I am trying not to think like that, but sometimes I do.

I've been on 3 trips since my surgery and I lost weight on 2 of the 3. What worked for me was to make sure I got my protein in every day and I just ate sensibly. I didn't look at it as an opportunity to go wild, but if I wanted something I had it. I didn't overindulge because frankly, the fear of crazy bathroom issues scared me to death so I tried to eat well 90% of the time and allowed myself one or two things a day that I normally don't do, like a drink or a dessert and that was it. I ended up losing around 3 lbs my last two trips.

Oh, I also made sure I got a decent amount of water in. At home I try to do 128 oz a day, on vacation, I consistently got in 64 oz.

I feel you about the "hurry up and let's be done already" thing. I feel like that a lot which is strange because I also sometimes feel like I'm turning into this other person that's unfamiliar to me and it's a little disconcerting.

Anyway, I am so excited for you and your vacation. I think you'll have a good time and please enjoy your weight loss. I had to force myself to do a few things (swim in the ocean, go on a catamaran) the 500 lbs me would not have done.
