Story of My Life!

Bwah hahaha! That's rich!

Besides my regular teaching job, I am the site director for one of our after school programs. It's actually not a bad gig. I only supervise, I don't actually teach after school, which is the best part! Maybe that sounds bad, but after having 34 little darlings all day, BY MYSELF, it's nice to have some "quiet time" when they leave. ;-) I supervise my staff of teachers, oversee the program in general, take care of all the paperwork (payroll, student files, etc) and serve as the go-between for the parent company and our school.

The third job is at our bar. I'm not sure how far back you've read on my blog, but my brother and I opened a martini lounge last April. The first year, I was literally killing myself between my teaching jobs and the bar. I was probably working 90+ hours per week, and it was rough. At first, I was doing just about everything (we did the build-out as a family, then I was doing the food/kitchen, the paperwork, the books, cleaning, waitressing and, eventually, bartending!) Then, we were able to hire a bartender to help out during the week, so I was only bartending on the weekends. Now that we've been open for about a year and a half, we're finally at a place where we can hire more people, so I'm not there nearly as much anymore. But, I still handle the money/books, and a lot of the business end of it with my brother. There are so many things that need to be done that you never think about (typing up and printing the menus, scheduling the employees, scheduling our events [like live music, karaoke nights, private parties, etc.] and keeping the books). I'm able to do most of it from home now, which is nice. But, I do enjoy being at the bar, interacting with our customers. As a matter of fact, I may just go there tonight just to hang out. Wow, I really need to get a life....

We have a website that's still under construction (one more little thing on my plate!). Check it out when you have time.
