Fighting Clean
HH and I don't "fight" much at all. We never have. We've had a few disagreements, but that is really about it. We made an agreement early out to keep our disagreements to ourselves. It is easy to start letting other people get involved, when we need to solve these problems ourselves. (There are a few major exception clauses such as the biggies....wake up to find out your being foreclosed on because your spouse has gambled your house way, etc...you get the picture.) We had a small disagreement last night, and I left the song I posted on the blog up on the computer up for him to listen to, and I came home to this:
There was a post-it note on the computer that said, "You didn't walk out on me, and we didn't have a falling out, but you get the idea."
I love HH!
Fun Times
My principal did something pretty cool yesterday.
He comes in the room in a pretty stern and strict manner, and tells my student teacher and I that we need to leave the room. He says he wants to address lunchroom behavior, yet again, and we don't need to hear it. We leave, he slams the door, and starts yelling about lunchroom behavior. Then it gets quiet, where we can't hear him.
He told the kids that he found our papers about how we plan for tests, and he has made a copy of them. They are a packet of things that would help our students learn content. The cover had Top Secret/Confidential on it. He said if we knew about it, he would be in so much trouble, and just played it up. He ends with another big rant about how if things don't change in the lunch room...blah, blah!
We come back in, really play up the lunchroom misbehavior. The kids have these small smirks on their faces, but truly think they have one over on us. I even pretend to get upset over the smirking.
Tricking them into studying....pretty brilliant.

Good Quote
“Try a thing you haven’t done three times. Once, to get over the fear of doing it. Twice, to learn how to do it. And a third time, to figure out whether you like it or not.”

Date Night
I was greated at school with this from HH:
It was full of Andes Mints. I love HH's personalized Valentine Hearts.
Next, we went to Hillbilly Tea. I've been wanting to try this out for a while. It was very close to the theater so last night was a great opportunity. I started out with some mint tea, whole milk, and sugar. Look at the cute tea cup!
My meal was bison chili, braised greens, and cornbread. The chili was not too spicy, and very hearty. The braised greens were so flavorful. They were second only to the secretary at my old school. Ms. Faye's greens were to die for! :) We had a great server too.
Biting into some desert....
I asked to have our picture taken by this lovely cabinet which displays their various teas.
HH doing his best Hillbilly Dance in front of the restaurant....
We went to see Ma Rainey's Black Bottom at Actor's Theater. All the shows this year we have attended we have been able to get $20 on the day of the show. The theaters at Actors are not really large (150 people), so there is no "bad seat" in the house. Our security/attendance clerk from school went with us too.
Show advertisement...I really wanted to get my picture in front of it posing like Ma Rainey, but we never got around to it.
Things Said at Work:
* While I'm out sending a fax, my students are in library. I had kept two students back who needed to catch up on some work. My student teacher is in there, and the girl just randomly looks at her and says, "You're not really fat, but you're not really skinny either." Um...OK.
* I'm doing my normal thing, rockin the guided reading groups. I have my toughest group as in powerful personalities that each want to dominate the group. We are reading a book on The Thirteen Colonies, and I've got them all into the strategy and skill I was teaching. I forgot that the founder of one colony was THOMAS HOOKER. Yeah, they had a field day with his name for about 45 seconds, then I had to lasso them back in. I'm not planning on reading this section with kiddos anymore!

Counting Blessings
Because I Need to Remind Myself of the Blessings I Have...
* An outpouring of love from my work and church family during our loss
* My friend Cheryl being there at the precise moment I needed to ball
* Seeing my sister smile and start taking the next steps in her life
* Co-workers who gathered all my work so I could have another day off to rest
* A student teacher who is awesome, including grading a huge stack of papers and having my room somewhat put back together for my return
* Sweet notes from my students, and lots of hugs
* An easier grad class for my husband
* HH: who worked for me for 3.5 hours yesterday doing things I needed, and the day before for an hour before school. He said, "Your school could employ someone full time to sharpen pencils, and it wouldn't be a waste of money."
I could go on. Thank. You. God.

Coming Back
I am finally coming back out from everything. I went to work yesterday and today. Here are some pictures....
My niece Mallory eating the Lick-a-Stick I bought for her:
My dinner tonight. I found this recipe online for Texas Toast Pizzas. I bought the five cheese kind, added pizza sauce, pepperoni, and some mozz cheese. They were so easy to fix and YUMMY! We have gotten into a horrible habit of eating out ALL the time. This is going to be a hard habit to get out of, but I am working on no eating out during the week (even to my beloved Moe's Southwest Grill).
I'm looking forward to a good weekend. We have several plans, and I can't wait to show pictures!

My student teacher got me a small gift, and the kids signed the cards for me. They were ultra sweet when I came back on Wednesday. They knew that my BIL was very sick.
