Not a Moment Too Soon

My friend Cheryl sent me flowers today. The whole mental aspect of the weight loss is really taking a toll on me. Hopefully we will be able to connect on the phone tomorrow. I missed her call. It is hard making the calls work when she lives in Germany. She has struggled with eating disorder type stuff, and I hope she can offer words of encouragement and hope.

The Day

I got to eat lunch with Meredith. She is the daughter of my sister's boyfriend. She was so surprised to see me at her school. It was so cute. I brought her a McDonald's Happy Meal. Why did I ever like McDonalds? Did I lose my mind? The smell was so nasty, I thought I was going to get sick. I even smelled it again after I got back in my car, and was sick from it. YUCK!!!

I met with a principal I used to work under. At the time, she was a principal intern in my building. I spoke very frankly with her about wanting to work under her if she had any openings. She was very excited about it. She said to put her building down as first on my transfer list, and she would make sure that I had a job. I love this woman because she is so motivating, and is very sincere. I would also get to work in an at-risk school, which is where my true calling is. The meeting gave me hope.

Not a Sigh of Relief

but progress none the less. I got on the scale this morning, and I had only gained two tenths of a pound. Since the scale has been shooting up like wildfire for NO reason at all, this was a very positive note.

I am determined not to let the man (aka the SCALE) get me down. I was reading through Tia's journey on her blog, and she has had several similar experiences like mine. No one said this weight loss trip wasn't going to have dips and potholes. I am not exempt from these.

I am really starting to like my job. I am not saying I want to stay in it forever, because I really do miss teaching students. I am learning a great deal, and getting to work with some really gifted individuals. The experiences I am gaining are invaluable. I know when I do go back in the classroom these experiences will help to mold me into an even better teacher.
