Lace Up Your Shots

and get yourself in this race!!!

That's right....I registered for a slew of 5Ks today. I am bringing on my A game. I am going to kick this running thing up a notch. I am not worried about times at all, just getting through the races. I know I can do this, and I want to do this. I know once I get through the first race, I will build up momentum in my belief that I really can do this.

My goal is to run the Triple Crown next spring. That is a 3, 6, and 10 mile race over the course of several weeks. (If I am brave enough, it also includes a mini marathon, who knows!)

I also bought a few outfits to run in. I needed some shorter pants to wear, and I bought a few shirts too. I also bought a size Large belt. :)

Running

It is beautiful outside, a bit cold, but all I can think about is how nice a good run would feel. I love that I am thinking that way. Of course, right now I am watching two boys, so I can't. I really think this warm weather is going to bust my exercise blahs. I was even checking out this website the other day that listed local races, so I can perhaps do more 5Ks. (I have not done my first one yet, but I will be before too long.)

I want more clothes. Ok, I want more clothes that compliment my current weird looking body. I cannot handle tank tops. My shorts are going to have to be capris until I get an inner thigh repair. I seem to be wearing the same few things over and over again. I really hate that. I want some fun clothes. When I have on clothes that fit, I feel so good about myself.

I also had this crazy notion the other day that I actually need to get a belt. It has been years since I have worn one. I don't even know where to start.

Couch to 5K

Week three of Couch to 5K is tough! I just did the first round of training this evening. I added up the minutes I ran, and it came up to nine minutes. I am excited about that. I am running on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. The program recommends three days a week, but I have been doing four days a week.

Thoughts...

I ran for about seven tenths of a mile tonight. I went eight tenths, but I walked about 1/10 of the way.

This morning I saw an old friend. Actually, it was a really good friend prior to me having WLS. She spoke, and was nice, but it was very different. We were about the same size before I had surgery. It was weird seeing my old body double right there in front of me. It is one thing seeing it in pictures, but it is another seeing it right in front of your eyes in real life.

I think about how I would feel if she had been the person who had WLS, and not me. I would love to think that I would be super supportive, etc. Yet, at the same time, I could see myself withdrawing just like she has over time.

A WOW...

I ran for four minutes tonight on the treadmill.

Ok, for you hard core exercise people, you can laugh, but I am so proud of myself! I RAN. Run and Tiffany have never gone in the same sentence before.

I started thinking today about my whole waiting until I weighed 180 before starting to run. I was using my weak left ankle as the reason to wait. It occurred to me that I should at least TRY before deciding if I needed to wait. Maybe the fact that my ankle has 179 pounds less to support might make it ok with running now. I decided to give it a shot.

I'm not sure exactly what speed I was going, I know it was a jog. I was on my treadmill, but only had it going at 3.4 miles per hour. I just started to jog. I didn't change the speed up any higher because I've had some fears with the treadmill, and even faller off of it twice recently.

I want to make the transition. From the girl who could barely move, to the girl who moves all the time. I want to be fit. I saw a girl with a "26.2" sticker on her car today. I thought to myself, I'd love to run a marathon before I turn thirty. Here is to success....celebrate each victory along the way. Today it is running for four minutes. :)
