Photo Fun

I made this Japanese Chicken Salad for HH last night. It was AMAZING! It had so much wonderful flavor to it. It certainly goes in my top FIVE recipes!

Here is a picture of HH and I at Havana Rumba, the best Cuban restaurant on the planet! (We are biased, since it is the only Cuban restaurant we've been to.)
I have GED class tonight, then I am going to come home and bake Peanut Butter and Jam Muffins for school Thursday, and I'm going to try to make the Black Bean Soup as well for lunch and dinner on Thursday. HH is going to dramatically read "Revolutionary Mothers" to me while I am doing this, since I have to have that book finished by next Thursday.

Having a Talk...

I had to have a talk with one of my boys Isaiah yesterday. I asked him to take some money to another teacher, and I knew he was trustworthy to get the money to her. When I said Ms. Lisa, he raised his arms out and motioned you mean the "wide" Ms. Lisa (he didn't say wide, just motioned with his arms). Isaiah's sister was in our wedding, and she is on the heavier side. I'd hate to see him say something that could hurt her ever. I whispered to him that if all possible if he could look for other ways to describe a person other than their size. He was very sweet, and it was a good lesson for him to learn.

I order HH's personalized M&M's today. I got one picture, and they will have a variation of three personal messages. I got the Personalized Creations magazine today, and they have several cute items that I'm going to have to add to HH's Valentine's Day goodie bag.

HH and I have spent a good deal of the evening talking and praying about the situation with my sister and family.

Heartache

My sister did it again. This is the third time she has stolen my mom's identity and ran up a huge credit card debt. The first time was for $500, the second time was for $8,000 (but cost my dad $12,000 because he had to borrow against his retirement, penalties, etc.), and now this time it is for $19,000. I fear she may cause my father to have a heart attack from stress. I also fear that she is running out of options, and that I may be the next target. (HH and I are taking out lifelock tomorrow. Does anyone know any other options that we could do?)

If you are the praying type....please pray for our family. This is really hard.

Bring On The Long Weekend...

I want to pack as much LIFE into our weekends as possible. I think it goes back to the fact that I really sat on the sidelines for so many years of my life. While some fat people are the life of the party, others tend to close up, and not socialize that much. I was never an extremist, but I know that my weight kept me from socializing with others in the way that I should. I feel like I have so much time to make up for now.

Friday:

Nashville Predators vs. Toronto Maple Leafs (GO LEAFS!!!!)

In school related news:

Report cards go home today. I have to print all four pages for each kid today. Lets hope the printers in our building hold up.

I have a boy in my room that certainly has some major issues, but right now I'm not sure if he knows exactly what to do at home to get hospitalized again, or if mom is trying to get him hospitalized to get him out of her hair. I'm leaning towards the mom, but then again, I have taught students who tell me the exact formula for getting sent to the hospital.

Recipes

I will mainly be keeping recipes here that I want to make in the future. I will usually have links to the direct website. Please remember that these are not my recipes. I'm just a follow the recipe kinda gal right now. I cannot make things on the fly yet.

About Me

I'm not even sure how to start this, but here goes...

I am a Christian, and this defines who I am. The truth of God is making me into the person He desires.

I am a pastor's wife. My husband and I are currently seeking the church that God will call us to in order to serve. I love my husband, and am eager to support him.

I am a teacher. I love working with students. I do however look forward to having my own children in the near future, and being a stay at home mom to them.

Why the blog, "Change is Good...Changing for Good"?
I started this blog as a way to process my transformation from a super morbidly obese person to a normal weight person. I never knew just how important documenting things would become personally, but wow, it really has! This has truly been about my journey out of a dark place and into the light. When you've been as heavy as I was for as long as I was, the mental side of losing weight is the hardest battle you will ever face. Now that the weight is off, I hope my readers can join in my adventures to keep living a full life. I missed out on so much as a SMO person (part due to my own choosing, part due to the physical constrictions that my body placed on me), I want to savor every bit of zest that life has to offer.

I welcome any comments that you have.

Sweetest HH...Yet Again....

I am tired and achy all over. My ankle is giving me some troubles with the cold weather, and now my other ankle is hurting because I think I am putting more weight on my good one.

After church we went to Havana Rumba again...mmmmm!

We played board games with Alex and Rachel at Barnes and Noble, then ate at Jason's Deli for dinner. Rachel and I had such a great conversation. It is amazing how we have become so close since last April.

My sweet HH is getting the groceries (as per usual for him), and going to make my dessert that I have to bring into work tomorrow.....all so I can lay here and relax. I think part of my anxiety about this week is that I start a GED class on Mondays and Wednesdays, have my first "Basic Training" cooking class on Thursday (I am very very excited about this), and have to plan for a substitute for three days next week. My student teacher is going to start taking over shared reading, and it is hard for me to let go and allow someone else to take the reigns. I know I brag on him a lot, but I truly am so thankful that God brought this man into my life.

I am going to try and post the notes from my cooking class sometime this week. It may not be something many are interested in, but I really feel that I learned a lot of good basic information. I love leaving these classes knowing that I can go home and replicate the things I've learned.

Overslept

I overslept, and we missed Sunday School. We will be able to make it to church on time. :)

I found a nice pair of winter boots yesterday. It is hard finding stuff when you wear a bigger size. (Always a 10 or 11)

I will be reading the New Testament through this year. I just wanted to publically acknowledge this is the scripture I will focus on the most. I will study other things, but as to what right now, I don't know.

I was talking to HH about my weight this morning (143.2), and he said, "Do you know what I weigh today?" To which he replied, "The same. It is all about maintaining." (He has only been on the scale one time since we got married.) The number really doesn't bother him in the slightest. He has embraced the fact that we are all getting older, and we are going to gradually go down hill.

After church: HAVANA RUMBA for lunch!!!!
